A great book, documentary on long living is The Blue Zones. Now on to Scurias. This is the second time recently I’ve heard this term used. While it’s a little too glamed up for me and the thoughts of spending hours on my hair to get a “big do” isn’t a thought I’ll entertain. I do appreciate looking nice while out and about. Recently, my husband and I were out for a casual dinner, and the dress was casual to the next level. When my parents were alive they would meet us at the restaurant frequently. While eating I remembered how my parents took so much care look “spiffy”” when out and about. As casual as I am at home, I do think it’s nice to make going out, even if it’s just Target, an occasion. My mom would always say “ A little blush and lipstick can make a difference” she was right.
Oooo those John Smedleys are a find! Thanks for the heads up. And as I am a regular shopper of British brands, I notice that more often than not, the price in dollars v. the price in Brit sterling for many items can be significantly higher. And shipping within the UK is often free. So if you have a good friend who is willing to be a sherpa for you and collect all of your goodies into one box and ship to you in the States, or if you're traveling to visit that friend, you can save a bundle by having it delivered to her London address. The John Smedley shirt that I was just looking at is $80 cheaper if purchased in sterling. Free shipping to a UK address. Much cheaper even after you've reimbursed your friend for the shipping costs on her end.
