I am going to chalk this up to too many days of oversize button-downs and pull-on pants, which don’t get me wrong, are still a part of my everyday. But….I suddenly want something hyper-feminine and dare I say, somewhat fitted. Or at least not voluminous.
And I know there is some influence from The Row Spring 25 seeping in here, but I am too old to wear my grandmother’s slip hanging out of a sweater. Cute when you’re 30 (and I did, did anyone else have Calypso slips?), but I want more sophisticated. So I’m starting in my own wardrobe.
I have this Phoebe Philo era Celine lace camisole on Daria below, that I bought on Vestiare a couple of years ago (after owning it for 6 months, they sent me an email saying “time to consign your old piece”, as if!) Because the top is quite revealing, I will either throw a tank on underneath, or more likely, since the lace bottom is quite long, I can put a light knit sweater on top so you get the lace peeking out the bottom. Going to wear it with either these FDL satin shorts and flip flops.
This Rohe camisole is a pretty option (and the white on white version cami and dress are 50% off).
This Eres lace chemise is a bit fancy for a coverup, but I would wear it at night with a bodysuit or slip underneath, and by day with something that covers your bum. I like it because it feels different. (On an aside, Eres makes some seriously chic resort clothes….this dress for instance.)
The minute I saw this image of Christie Tyler below, wearing this Rohe top (on sale) and what I’m guessing is an old half slip….it reminded me of…..
These new Carven broderie anglaise shorts which I love (there is also a skirt). That Rohe top above, these shorts below….I would do it if I had a reason to spend the money. I also love the slight shade variations/textures. Yummy!
I was also reminded of this Loretta Caponi silk top from Old Stone Trade I tried on at a recent trunk show. It is silk and perfect with faded jeans (throw on a tweed blazer in the fall.) It is made-to-order, a size Small was a perfect fit.
Finally, I loved the image below of Marie Von Behrens and friend Marie Chardin for the mix of summer and cool weather pieces. MC’s dress looks very similar to my Toteme I recently posted on. I love the idea of juxtaposing it with something very off. Of course it’s 95° here, so sweaters are not happening anytime soon.
I did breakdown and order this Posse dress, which is somewhere between the two above. This Doen skirt is similar to MVB’s though I can’t find it in a Small anywhere now (maybe Doen will restock?) and this top is pretty.
Of course, my feminine streak will last a day or two, then I’ll be back to tailored.

Same mood over here. Love this!
While I am more a Tibi than Doen girl, I remember so fondly the feminine slipdresses over jeans in the 90's and would love to revisit this. Thank you for the inspiration.
