One thing I have wanted for while, but kept putting off for various reasons, is a pair of cropped flared trousers. I know so many people are a fan of the pull-on knit High Sport pants, I tried them and maybe it’s age, but I want tailoring and a waistband, it’s just more flattering on me. Last week, I went to a trunk show designer Maria McManus was hosting, tried her version on and realized I had been missing out. Her High-Waist Cropped Trousers are so flattering, forgiving (the waist is a really good spot so when you sit, you are comfortable) and ultimately versatile. Maria is as serious about fit as she is about sustainability and sources the most eco-friendly materials on the market.
One of my daughters and I were discussing purchasing something recently and she asked “But would you wear it 50 times?” It’s a good rule of thumb when considering an item that should be integral to your wardrobe. The answer on these pants is a yes. Right now, they also come in toffee, chocolate (this fall’s “color”), pale gray, cotton khaki (limited stock), but Maria says they are coming in ivory and navy for Spring, which are the other colors I would want most. (I wear a size 6.)
How am I going to wear them, beyond pairing them with some favorite Frances de Lourdes navy basics above (love navy and black)? How will I not? To dress up for lunch or dinner with a little heel, to wear to appointments with boots (you don’t have to have exposed ankles when it’s cold), and with sneakers and any kind of top. If I was traveling for work or to a city, these pants would also be a must.
Really good things are few and far between, but that’s ok because you really don’t need a lot of things, just the right ones. These pants are one of those things.

Forgot to include (and can’t right now) I took a size 6.
