My Three Summer Bags: The Everyday, The Weekend Tote, The Traveler Duffle
You can shop one IRL next week with me in NYC; the traveler is also on sale.
These are the three purchases I am making for late Spring/Summer bags that should cover everything but evening.
Bag #1
The first, that will get by far the most use (and will be the smallest size but biggest purchase) is the Métier Market Mini in white sand calfskin. I am actually co-hosting a trunk show with Métier, Maria McManus and One Of, next week in NYC. Would love to see you there and please feel free to spread the word. Métier is based in London so this is a chance to see a solid selection of their beautiful bags IRL (and my jewelry, and Maria and Patricia’s clothing). I will eventually be adding more Métier into my life, but one has to start somewhere and will finalize my wishlist when I see them all on Tuesday.
Bag #2
I am a little late getting on the Rue de Verneuil train, but I only buy when I need something, and being super picky about colors etc. limits me (in a good way). Rue de Verneuil is a Paris-based brand of cotton totes and bags that are sturdy yet elegant. The medium-size Traversée bag, below, that I bought from Goop, reminds me so much of the one Gwyneth carried in the 90s (LOL—maybe Kate Spade?), crossed with an Hermes Canvas GM tote (another good resale find if you’d rather). The size is similar to GP’s (a tad smaller); there is also a bigger and a tiny version. I went medium so I can stuff with a book/water bottle/extras when I want to schlep. This one should get better with age.
Bag #3
I have been wanting a carry-on travel bag since last March, when I almost bought the Tumi Contine Weekend, but I didn’t because I wanted something with less “business travel vibes”. I thought about an LV tote, but without any pockets, it’s too much of a black hole, and an expensive one at that. That said, I have ended up in a completely different place, and ordered this very roomy Paravel Grand Tour Duffle in black and white (with red monogram) that is currently 25% off on their site (everything is through May 13th). Did I mention I am going to Amsterdam and Copenhagen (a first for both) end of the month? I hope it comes in time. I am going to try to travel carry-on only so this should make it doable, but we will see.

I replaced my “under the seat” carry-on with the Paravel Foldable Duffle Bag. As a companion with my Lipault carry-on for my 3 1/2 trip to NYC from LA it was perfect. Since it folds up to a small flat square, it’s also perfect as an extra bag to pack in a suitcase for purchases.
I love them all!
