Long Holiday Weekend Wardrobe
I'm off for three days of lobsta rolls. What I will be wearing, while consuming.
I am trying to pretend our nation is not in an existential political crisis (we are NOT discussing politics here, just acknowledging that this is a national holiday about our nation, which is all I will say), and am happily going to stick my head in the sand so to speak and spend three nights in Kennebunkport Maine for the holiday weekend. I am excited to eat as many lobster rolls as I possibly can, hit the beach, read one of my new books, and generally relax with my husband. And you know how much I love to pack and packing lists so….
I do think packing for a long weekend is a different vibe than packing for a longer vacation. Different locals also require slightly different wardrobes. Still, what I’m taking is a tight edit of what I plan on wearing all summer. There are several pajama adjacent and literal pajama pieces in here. I not only enjoy the ease of drawstring pants/shorts, but worn well, they are also give off an air of unfussy, elegant nonchalance. I’m in. (Plus, they hide those extra lobster rolls.) I thought about adding one dress and might panic at the end and do so. Haven’t figured out the day bag yet, I think a raffia Vanessa Bruno I bought last year.
Coincidentally, there is a lot of blue and white with a splash of red, which honestly almost made me rethink my wardrobe. At the same time, I don’t care—read patriotism into my color scheme if you must. Below is a list (with links where I can) of what I’m packing. I will report back. I am that person who gets a kick out of seeing just how strategic and en pointe of a packer I can be.
Traveling outfit
A vintage tee (That red/white/blue baby in lower corner, which I bought at Mothfood last year), striped drawstring pants I bought in Copenhagen (these are similar), The Row flip flops.
Morning coffee out
Option 1: White FDL button-down with white Suzie Kondi shorts, red Row flip flops.
Option 2/3: My Schostal pjs mixed with the FDL button down or SK shorts.
Beach Time
My blue striped FDL shirt (no longer available) or green Saturday’s Surf Men’s Long Sleeve tee (old but archive sale with options here) with either B Sides denim shorts, or Schostal men’s striped boxers, Eres one piece or bikini top and bottom, Janessa Leone Felix bucket hat, Birkenstocks, Milton Market personalized tote.
Afternoon Shopping/Evening Dinner
Option 1/2: State of Cotton sweater (this chunky cotton sweater is a one-and-done summer piece), Toteme drawstring pants (worn out twice already and love), Nackiye windbreaker, Row red jellies or flip flops. Same sweater, other white Toteme cargo pants.
Option 3: Old I Pezzi Dipinti navy/black striped cashmere sweater, FDL Florence navy pants, old Toteme flip flops.
That’s it, that’s all!
Wishing everyone a great holiday weekend.
